Risk-Taking

If you're the type of person who can't make a move with-out being certain of the out-come, you're going to be very uncomfortable in a period of transition.  It's time to build some risk-taking confidence.

Calculate.   Be sure you realize the consequences.  Never risk more than you are willing to lose.

Minimize.   Reduce your chance of loss by doing research, building support and getting as much control as possible over the outcome.

Ask yourself:

    What could go wrong?
What are the chances of that happening?
How can I lessen the risk?
If I don't take the risk, what would I lose?
Can I break the risk down into steps or smaller risks that I can take one at a time?

Practice.   Take small risks first to build up your confidence.

Try something new.   Talk to people you don't know.  Go places you haven't been before - even a different store - or take a new route to work.  Changing your routine can add creativity to your life.

Learn from setbacks.   Look at risks that fail as opportunities to learn.

Learn what you don't like from different experiences. It's never a waste of time to have experienced something you found unpleasant. Knowing what you don't like is as important as knowing what you do like.
